Thanks. I think this is mostly a traditional sunburst top. It kind of needed that because of that huge honkin' abalone purfling on the top. (.098"). That is the only way I thought that was going to look right.

The back is more of an "amber burst"

Steve, you know.... I think that set of wood came from a guy on ebay. It was really nice. Unless I am dealing with one of the usual suspects, I find ebay to be very much of a hit or miss. This time I got lucky.

And if you are looking for a great resource for sunbursting, check out StewMac's video. That is the best resource I have found. I think their book is good too, it has lots or recipies for colors in there too.

Very nice! I'm into sunbursts I've just been afraid of making a guitar look sloppy trying to do it.
